Inclusive Schools Week
December 4-8, 2023
Inclusive Schools Week is happening this week at our school district and throughout the country. The purpose of the week is to actively engage our students and school-wide community to be conscious of what it means to be inclusive, the importance of respecting others, and building empathy for one another.
SEPAC SOMA promotes inclusive communities all year long, but this week has been a good reminder for us all to talk to our children about others’ differences and how important it is to respect those differences. Please click here to read SOMSD’s letter about Inclusive Schools Week, with conversation starters to keep the discussions our children are having at school going when they get home. You can also learn more about the Inclusive Schools Network’s focus on celebrating “students who are marginalized due to disability, gender, socioeconomic status, cultural heritage, language preference, and other factors.”
