Workshop: Self-Compassion for Parents
April 23, 2023, 2:00-3:30pm

SELF-COMPASSION FOR PARENTS: The everyday life of a parent is full of high expectations, isn’t it? Often, we put ourselves last, so we’re excited to share an opportunity to set aside those expectations and give yourself the gifts of time and grace at our free SEPAC SOMA Parent Workshop, where we’ll connect and learn about tools, support, and practices to cultivate self-compassion with Mindful Parenting Coach Sarah Schwartz❤️

Sunday, April 23rd, 2:00-3:30pm
DeHart Community Center
120 Burnett Ave, Maplewood
RSVP here (appreciated, but not required)

More from Sarah about the workshop:
We need to value ourselves – our time, our space, our peace – to show up for our kids with empathy, acceptance, and curiosity. Pioneered by Kristen Neff, PhD., self-compassion is “the process of turning compassion inward. We are kind and understanding rather than harshly self-critical when we fail, make mistakes or feel inadequate. We give ourselves support and encouragement rather than being cold and judgmental when challenges and difficulty arise in our lives.”

We cannot learn, grow, or make changes when we’re in a state of shame. Self-compassion shifts us out of blame and shame mode, and into a place of resilience and motivation. It can even improve our mental and physical well-being! However, being self-compassionate is NOT how many of us were raised and not a part of our culture. We need tools, support, and practices to cultivate self-compassion.

In this workshop we’ll share stories and struggles, drink tea and eat treats. We’ll practice mindfulness meditation to regulate our nervous systems and learn tools to cultivate self-compassion.

I hope to see you there!
