Thursday November 3, 6:30-8:00 pm 17 Parker Ave, Maplewood The South Orange Maplewood SEPAC encourages its members to attend Thursday’s focus group with the professional firm hired to lead the search for SOMSD’s next Special Services Director. Strong and independent leadership will be critical as the Special Services Department faces the programming, administrative, legal and financial challenges ahead.
Given the importance and history of the Special Services Department, and the questions that were raised in previous hiring processes, SEPAC fully supports the Board of Education decision to use an independent firm capable of conducting a transparent and wide search. We will need the absolute best person we can find to fill this role, and the small cost of a professional search pales in comparison to the costs of a special services department that is not well run.
